As an art history student, Veralyn Wen is pursuing the focus of Art and Technology. She has grown from majoring in Physics to coming back to Digital Humanities and Art. Hailing from Philadelphia, the city of sisterly affection, she hopes to serve as the voice to connect musicians to opportunities and community through Musa, a platform she’s developing to break down hierarchical systems in the music industry.
In February of 2025, she began a DJ competition called Synth Wars. Synth Wars is a DJ competition where 5 emerging DJ’s to battle it out with 15 minute sets in front of the top DJs of the city and audience who is there to see / hear innovative and fresh music. The competition has garnered much success and has touched cities like Atlanta and Chicago with plans to expand to Miami, Philadelphia, Berlin, Bern, New York, LA, London, Ghana and so much more.
In her personal research, intimaterialism, a term she coined for her senior thesis, she inspires others to pour more intention and care in their everyday digital etiquette. In full, the primary center of her research questions how Digital Culture transforms, adapts, and affects our sensory experiences.
